Hi John, A handful of customer volunteers and I recently built a useful wiki resource/artifact for our wider (software development) community. However, the wiki would have never gotten done unless we coordinated and discussed things on a forum. We u…

Hi John, I was being quiet, hoping somebody else would chime in. Anybody, anybody? I think starting a site on Ning for the heavy duty discussion and artifact creation and reuse is a good start, especially if Ning does deliver the long-ago promised…

Hello (is itJohn?), Most of my wikiwork was on a Confluence enterprise platform at IBM developerWorks. I've only run one hosted wiki That was on wikidot and it worked fine. Since it wasn't a heavily trafficked or published site, we didn't stress th…

Hello John, Here are my thoughts... A Facebook group won't do any of the stuff you want. If you are dealing with consumers (not business), Facebook is an invaluable start, but more for marketing then real community. I'm still figuring out Ning and…

Hi all, I realize some parts of this discussion are way old, but it's still relevant. I agree with Mark Schooling who wrote, "I feel however MOST communities would do better with a less is more attitude. Branching out is great for marketing and expo…

Helllo Jon, Melissa. Jill, I like very much Melissa's words, especially: "If you build it, they will come" doesn't always apply. I've seen that the best forums come from energized people engaging with each othe and newbies/lurkers. So the key is to…

Profile Information

What's amazing about you?
I'm taller than most, will joke about most anything (especially myself), and I really do believe in the power of connected people. I'm good at building motivated teams.
Are you a member of any communities, online or offline? Which?
Certainly I'm a member of various communities.

Online: LinkedIn (of course while job seeking), FaceBook, political discussion groups, local coordinating groups, social group, photo critique.

Offline: What's the point? (just joking). Volunteer at daughters' K-8 school, gym, connect2future job seekers, photography club.
Are you looking for community work? Or to hire anybody?
I'm looking to help build a great web property, especially from a community perspective. Job titles I seek are Internet Project Manager, Online Community Manager, Web Producer, Web Product Manager.

I write with a flare to better garner online attention and enact desired results. I'm quite effective at understanding customer needs and creating win-wins.
Who would you most like to build a community for? i.e. What is your dream community project?
I'm most interested in consumer and media companies. Certain aspects of b2b excite me. I especially crave an enlightened company where the community of online customers helps inform new product development.
